This is not progress...Harris County deserves better.
Gang members in the Houston area have been targeting mothers as they drop their children off at daycare. They burglarize the victims' vehicles, steal their purses, run up fraudulent charges on their credit cards and steal their identities. Jarvis Hoskins is one of these predatory thieves and was recently charged with "Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity" after being found in possession of numerous victims' personal identifying information.
Because of Hoskins' extremely long criminal history and numerous prior prison trips, he is considered a "true habitual offender" and faces 25 years to life in prison for his pending first degree felony. Hoskins has a history of violating bond conditions and is a member of a violent criminal street gang. Hoskins was already on bond for second degree "Fraudulent Possession of Identifying Information" in Montgomery County and "Burglary of a Motor Vehicle" in Harris County at the time of his latest arrest. The Harris County felony bond schedule would put him at "No Bond" or (at a minimum) $30,000 bond. The HCDAO prosecutor on the case requested a denial of bail, but the Harris County judge set bail at $10,000.
For $1,000 this criminal can be back on the streets victimizing countless more citizens. Case is pending in the 208th.
Edit: Jarvis Hoskins was convicted of the same "Fraudulent Possession of Identifying Information" charge in 2018 (in Bexar County) and sentenced to prison for two years. He is on parole until October 2019. This morning, Hoskins posted $10k bail in Harris County. His parole violation warrant was issued after his release. He is currently a wanted fugitive with an active felony parole violation warrant for his arrest.
